As an advocate entering my 15th year of advocating for and on behalf of battered women, I have seen what power and control can do to women and children, and the effects can be deadly!
      Since our program began in July of 1994, we have started our own clothesline project. We started with the devastating death of Lenny Moon in 1987, and again in 1991, when baby John Doe was found in a dumpster in Canby, MN, and again, in 1996, when Cynthia Hamilton Mahlmann committed suicide as a result of suffering from the effects of domestic abuse, and in 1991 for Jamie Sawatsky, who was shot to death by her former boyfriend, and just this year in January, Latisha Joy Brien was brutally murdered with a baseball bat and her body was dumped in a burn pile.

      This is about Domestic Violence and as you have seen and read, the outcome is deadly! . There are many more that we are not aware of, within our rural area. The counties WRAP provides services to are Lyon, Lincoln, Yellow Medicine, Redwood, Murray, and Cottonwood. Everyone from these counties has been devastatingly affected by the murders caused by domestic violence. This does not only affect the victims, but the families and community as well. So I ask, PLEASE support WRAP in the work that we do, providing services to battered women and their children. We need monetary donations as well as volunteers!!!
