Stopping Domestic Violence

Sharlene's Angels On Earth Inc. Is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is committed to helping stop Domestic Violence and in helping children with life-threatening illnesses receive the operations they need.

Summer of 2001 holds many local and national events to help promote the end to our nation's #1 CRIME, Domestic Violence. Domestic Violence destroys more families than any other crime in this country.

Domestic Violence has no gender or age, even though most reported cases are those that involve abuse towards a woman.

Everyone suffers from the effects of DV: men, women, children, the young, and the old, and it is happening in every town, city, and state, in every ethnic group, culture and neighborhood.

In your own community there are people who at this very moment are being tortured, some may even die at the hand of a person out of control. These people who are out of control are husbands, wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, lovers, parents, and the list goes on.

The way we are going to start ending this nightmare is going to be when everyone in each community says NO MORE! WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH!

We have written a play, "Smiling Through the Tears", the play, to help promote public awareness. You can find out more about this play here. If you would like this play to come to your area, please contact us.

And please remember Domestic Violence Month is October. Contact your local Domestic Violence agencies, shelters, organization and offer your free time to help end this CRIME in your community.

We are also asking that everyone in each community and state to petition their congress men/women, representatives and the government locally and nationally, to put together an ABUSER List/File made available to the public so that abuser will be listed just like child molesters. We want everyone to petition that the laws governing Domestic Violence change from being a Misdemeanor to a Felony from the beginning.

Even if you have never experienced Domestic Violence yourself, there is someone you know or in your family or who works in your office who is a Victim of DV.

Anyone can be a Victim, anyone can be an Abuser, there is no stereotype.

Do not blame the Victim, do not pass judgement on them. Be a friend to talk to/cry to, then direct them to your local DV agency or shelter, because it is not as easy as it may seem to you an outsider. In most cases the Victim can not just LEAVE. But when the time comes that they can leave, help them as far as supporting them in their decision, get them to a shelter, or call the police when you know Domestic Violence is happening to them. (Warning -- until the Victim has found the strength in themselves to leave, all your talking, warning etc. will fall on deaf ears. The victim must make this decision on their own otherwise they will go back to their abuser. But a 911 call can stop a black eye or worse.)

Domestic Violence is child abuse and neglect. Parents who have domestic Violence in their homes can and do lose their children to state agencies. No child should see, hear, or be a part of Domestic Violence.

To start a Chapter or sub-office of Sharlene's Angels On Earth Inc. in your area or to be part of our national events, please email us.

Thank you.
