PLEASE
-- drop off your hockey players 15 to 30 minutes prior to their scheduled practices and pick them up within 15 minutes afterward, unless there is a game scheduled.  The arena employees do not have time to watch kids in addition to their regular duties.

SLEEPY EYE HOCKEY BOARD MEETINGS: Are every first Wednesday of the month at 7:00pm at the Serviceman's Club.  You may call PJ Hittesdorf to verify meeting place and time. Minutes are posted on the bulletin board by the locker rooms and they are also put on the Sleepy Eye Hockey website.

FUNDRAISING REQUIREMENTS:  Fundraising is absolutely necessary to keep the hockey program viable in Sleepy Eye.  Listed below are some of the yearly fundraising events we do every year.  There will be additional fundraisers added throughout the season as well. We are able to keep initial fees at a reasonable rate because our fundraising efforts in the past have been so successful.  We must continue this trend.  As we all know, costs continue to climb.  Fortunately, our family members have remained at a steady level for a few years now, and we appreciate everything our members do to help our program!  Thank You!

1)        Arena Dinner Benefit:  The arena benefit will be held in January.  More information will be sent out in an upcoming newsletter.

2)        Concession Stand:  Our Fundraising Committee sets up a schedule for workers at the beginning of the season, they will basically assign times for everyone.  They do their best NOT to have parents working during their children's games.  If you cannot make it on your assigned time, you must find a replacement(you may have family   members or friends work for you), or switch  with someone else.  If you want to volunteer for specific dates or times, please call and let them know.  MUST BE 16 YEARS OR OLDER ONLY PLEASE!

3)        Fish Fry:  On every Good Friday, the Hockey Association sponsors a fish fry at the VFW
Serviceman's Club.  Every family is required to take a shift (volunteer hours).  A separate
mailer will be sent to each family with their assigned duties.  If  you cannot make it, you
must supply your own replacement.  Each family is required to sell  meal tickets.

4)        Golf Tournament:  On the third Sunday of July, we sponsor a 27-home 3-man best ball
tournament at the Sleepy Eye Golf Course.  We supply the workers for the tournament.

5)        Minnesota Wild:  On occasion, the MN Wild will ask SE Hockey to sell programs at one of
their home games.  The association asks the Varsity and Bantams to sell programs first, and then Pee Wees are asked if we need more help.  No volunteer hours are given because the bus ride and tickets are free.

EQUIPMENT INFORMATION

Equipment Handout
Mini-Mites and first year Mites will be contacted for a separate equipment handout date at the end of October due to the time needed for fitting skates and helmets.  Second year Mites, Squirts, Pee Wees and Bantams will receive their equipment after the first practice.  Goalies--contact Matt Dockter if you need some items before the first practice!  Game jersey's and breezers are to be worn ONLY FOR GAMES!  Everyone is expected to wear their own breezers for practices.  Please do not abuse this policy! Skates should be sharpened regularly by a hockey supply company (McCabe's, Scheel's, Lester Reinarts, etc.).  Please do not attempt to sharpen the blades yourself. If you lose any hockey equipment, check the lost and found in the arena office.

Team Reps:
Each level will be assigned a team rep to assist the coach with communication between the Board, coaches, parents, and players.  Some of the responsibilities are:
        1)        Line-up parents to be in the penalty boxes, do the scoreboard, and operate the time
clock for home games.  Volunteer hours are given to the parents.  Parents must
sign the clipboards to get credit.  Please see that every family has the opportunity
                to do these jobs.
NO CHILDREN ARE ALLOWED IN THIS AREA!

2)        Hand-out and collect fundraising sheets from each player.
        3)          Organize the team for picture night.  Hand out picture forms.
        4)        Provide directions to out-of-town arenas, and arrange a caravan to the away games,
                if necessary.
        5)        Communicate game and practice schedule changes.  Most of these need to be
                in writing for the parents.
        6)        Line up hotel information and directions for parents for tournaments.

Obviously, a team rep should be a parent who has some experience with being in the Sleepy Eye Hockey Association.  At the coaches' discretion, some of these issues will be handled by him.  The coach may choose his team rep at the beginning of the season.

Volunteer hours awarded by level:                Mini-Mites/Mites                        5 hours
                                                Squirts/Pee Wees/Bantams/Varsity        15 hours

BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS

Sleepy Eye Hockey expects everyone to have a spirit of  fair-play and sportsmanship.  Those fans that cannot uphold a positive playing environment will be asked to leave the facility.

In the event of vandalism or careless activity which causes damage, the parent will be responsible for reimbursing the arena for all costs.

In the event of unsportsmanlike behavior between players, coaches, or other teams, the Board will be advised of the situation and a decision will be made for appropriate disciplinary action.

No foul language will be tolerated.

No alcohol, tobacco, or other substances are allowed in the building.

Varsity players are subject to the rules and conditions prescribed by the schools' handbook.

No food or drink can be brought into the arena.  The concession stand has adequate choices.

No sticks or pucks in the lobby area or by the pop machines!  Parents--please help monitor this if you are watching practices or games.

No standing on the chairs in the seating area.

Players must wear full hockey gear at every practice and game--no exceptions!
